What can I do as your postpartum doula after the birth?

Emotional Support

The transition into new parenthood can be vulnerable, and postpartum doulas are experts in emotional support, active listening and encouraging new moms and dads to follow their own hearts. Empathy, a hug or even a good laugh together can do so much for a new parent!

Evidence-Based Information and Support

Postpartum doulas are trained to understand what new babies – and new mothers – truly need. I’ll help with soothing techniques, offer breastfeeding or bottle feeding support, and explain normal newborn behavior. I’ll provide referrals and resources for professional services if needed.

Practical Support

It’s all hands on deck with a new baby, and I’ll help things go more smoothly as the days go by. I can help with newborn care including: diapering, swaddling, bathing, baby wearing instruction or assistance, feeding support, either breast or bottle. I can assist with the baby’s laundry, doing the dishes, preparing simple, nourishing meals and household organization.

Partner and Sibling Support

A new baby means transition for everyone, including parents, grandparents and big brothers and sisters. Postpartum doulas understand what everyone needs, and part of my role is to help the entire family adjust and settle in.
